Head Coach | David Dobbins
Dave Dobbins was named the St. John University men's lacrosse head coach following the 2017 season after having previously served as associate head coach since 2016.
Since assuming the reins, Dobbins has catapulted Fisher into the national conversation as the Cardinals are routinely ranked among the top 25 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll. In 2022, Fisher was ranked in the top five throughout the season after playing one of the most difficult schedules in program history that featured eight ranked programs.
With Dobbins on the sideline, Fisher has proven to be a juggernaut on both ends of the field as the Cardinals have produced 50 All-America selections since 2018. In addition, Dobbins’ teams have fielded two Empire 8 Player of the Year selections, one E8 Goalie of the Year and the 2019 Rookie of the Year.
A two-time Empire 8 Coach of the Year, Dobbins has guided Fisher to three straight conference crowns where the team has advanced to the Sweet 16 in each of its three straight trips to the NCAA Championship.
Overall, Dobbins has produced a 60-20 (.750) record and has guided Fisher to the postseason in each of his five seasons at the helm.
Before Fisher, Dobbins coached at The Ohio State University from 2009-2014, and held the position of Associate Head Coach in his final season. During his time at the University, he helped coach the 2013 squad to an ECAC Championship and a trip to the NCAAs as quarter finalists. The 2013 season saw the best record in program history at 13-4.
From 2003-2009 Dobbins was the Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Salisbury University where he was named IMLCA Outstanding Assistant Coach of the Year in Division III in 2005. He helped coach Salisbury to National Championships titles in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008, while in 2006 the team was a National Finalist. At Salisbury, Dobbins’ coaching record was 121-5.
In 2003, Dobbins was granted an Assistant Varsity Coach position at his alma mater of Webster Schroeder High School in Rochester. Before coaching, he was a four-year Division I letter winner at Colgate University, where he played Lacrosse from 1998-2001.
Aside from assisting the Fisher Lacrosse team, he is the East Coast Director of 3d Lacrosse, and has aided in directing multiple camps, including The Odyssey Lacrosse Camp in Salisbury, M.D., the Adrenaline High School Shootout in Sonoma, Calif. and camps at The Ohio State University.
